Well folks it looks like the Summer Sizzle is upon us. Nice to have some rain though this year to keep the smoke away!
Speaking of Rain (water) , we have been focused on a water remediation insurance claim recently and felt the need to remind everyone.
When you go away on vacation, shut off the main water supply valve to your house!
If Water damage does occur the most likely culprit is a kinked fridge waterline or a drip in the dishwasher water line. Also a common cause is the water purification system! Definitely shut that off when you are heading out on a vacation. Get a house sitter if possible when you leave!
If you do get water damage. Remove the drywall ASAP… Set up a dehumidifier. Get the air moving with fans. If you have mdf casing and baseboards most likely you will see the damage and they will have to go. Sometimes the damage wont be visible so a Moisture Meter tester is an invaluable tool. It can see moisture levels in drywall, trim, flooring, wood.
